Legal Weekly News dated April 26, 2022
Every Tuesday, mr. Jeroen Pols (or mr. Hanno Wisse) and mrs. mr. Maria-Louise Genet together the relevant legal developments of the week. This time with Hanno Wisse as a replacement for Jeroen Pols.
Today (in part 27) the longstanding problems and corruption within youth care are discussed. Various laws, treaties and reports (showing that the Netherlands is in a sorry state in this respect) are discussed in this broadcast. There are many parallels between youth care and corona policy: both concern forms of organized crime. checks and balances turn out not to work in practice, so that important mechanisms not only malfunction, but even function for the wrong purposes. There is economic exploitation of children. Damaged children unfortunately yield more money than actual help to children. The Netherlands is champion of home placements in Europe. Network corruption and perverse incentives arise because the youth care chain (public-private merger) is so powerful that it can fully control the demand for its own services. This fuels a syndicate of organized crime that thrives on institutionalized distrust of citizens. A syndicate that thrives on authoritarianism, in which a continuously monitored citizen is disabled by supposedly independent experts who stigmatize him over his head and behind his back. And a judiciary that uncritically agrees.
