May 6 commemoration: A Democracy shot dead
On May 4, we commemorate the dead of the Second World War. On May 5, we celebrate the liberation that has long since been taken from us. This started on May 6, 2002 when democracy in the Netherlands turned out to be a sham democracy, the masks of the established elite were taken off and Pim Fortuyn was shot dead in a gruesome manner, with the full cooperation of the government.
Pim Fortuyn
Finally someone who dared to express what many people thought. Pim Fortuyn had charisma, could be extremely vulnerable, was honest and stood up for the Netherlands because he saw that things were going in the wrong direction with this once so beautiful country.
Pim Fortuyn did not come completely from scratch. He has been writing books since 1978. In 1999 he wrote the book:The third revolution! How information technology is turning everything upside down” which showed that Pim Fortuyn was way ahead of his time.
Marcel van Dam
In 1997 he became known for the infamous debate with the extremely vicious Marcel van Dam who called him an "extremely inferior person".
Fortuyn was visibly touched by this and has come back to it regularly. “An inferior person. He calls me an inferior person. A Subhuman”
Marcel van Dam has never apologized for this.
Pim Fortuyn wants to go into politics
On August 20, 2001, Fortuyn announced that he wanted to go into politics. He did that in One Today,
In the beginning, Pim Fortuyn was not taken very seriously due to the arrogance of the established order, which did not sense what was going on in society. But that soon changed.
On November 25, 2001, Pim was chosen as the leader of Liveable Netherlands.
Victory Pim Fortuyn as party leader of Liveable Netherlands
Fortuyn turned out to have a huge following locally in Rotterdam but also nationally.
The confirmation came during the municipal elections on March 6, 2002, where Pim Fortuyn participated in Rotterdam. Back then for Liveable Rotterdam.
In the meantime, he had resigned as the party leader of Leefbaar Nederland, but he was still the leader of Leefbaar Rotterdam.
He obtained no less than 35%(!) of the votes, making the party the largest party in Rotterdam from scratch with 17 seats.
It was clear that Pim Fortuyn hadn't counted on such a big victory either. He took many seats, especially from the VVD, but almost all parties lost seats to Pim Fortuyn.
In the Rotterdam City Hall it was chaos that evening with a lot of sour faces from the established order:
Historical Debate
But the most historic debate ever on Dutch television came after this victory.
The leaders of all major parties were invited to a debate in Amersfoort, led by Paul Witteman. This debate took place around midnight.
His biggest rival Ad Melkert, the party leader of the PvdA who realized that evening that his career was over.
When everyone was ready, Ad Melkert was still on his way. We can guess that he came to this debate in Amersfoort with fresh reluctance and that became all too clear during the debate.
Party leader of the VVD Hans Dijkstal became nervous and was about to resign. None of the party leaders thought that many people would still want to watch this debate at this time.
But in reality the whole of the Netherlands was glued to the television to see this spectacle.
There was no real debate. It was Pim Fortuyn's night, as Balkenende rightly pointed out. Incidentally, he (Balkenende) was the only one who showed respect for the result and the voters.
It became a one-man show by Pim Fortuyn who increased the visible annoyance of Ad Melkert a bit.
Resignation of party leader Pim Fortuyn
Pim described himself regularly as presenter: “I do what I say and I say what I do. I'm not left, I'm not right. I am a realist with a heart.”
First speaking in the plural when he was still the party leader of Leefbaar, later referring to himself after he was deposed on February 10 as party leader of Leefbaar Nederland.
Four days later, on February 14, Pim founded his own party. List Pim Fortuyn (LPF).
The evening that the party board and Pim Fortuyn tried one last time to continue together, yielded historical images. It is not certain whether Pim Fortuyn was aware of the camera.
Pim Fortuyn was a man you couldn't lead and he was absolutely incapable of saying things he didn't agree with. This caused the eventual rift between Pim and Leefbaar Nederland.
Look at the historical images:
If something happens to me…
Between all the tensions, Pim Fortuyn appeared in Robert Jensen's show.
This provided some distraction from his hectic life and we saw another side of Pim in which he didn't mince his words and was not ashamed of his homosexuality and his adventures in the dark rooms.
During this show he spoke the prophetic words:
“If something happens to me, THEY will be jointly responsible. And then they can't pull their hands off it in the sense of: Yes, I didn't commit that attack. You helped create the climate. And that has to stop”

But as we see to this day, the establishment has learned nothing. It has only gotten worse and your and my opinion is under heavy pressure. Critics of the government, corona or other established institutions are not tolerated.
Go home cooking
A funny moment was the moment between Wouke van Scherrenburg and Pim Fortuyn who had a kind of love/hate relationship.
Wouke called Pim a "bad loser" after he was again called a racist by Paul Rosenmöller. His mother had died a few days before the debate.
Pim responded with the words: “You know what you are, you're a puss, ma'am.
After another attempt by Wouke, Pim said the historic words: "Ah, madam, go home and cook, much better."

Demonization of Pim Fortuyn
The demonization of Pim Fortuyn knew no bounds and the closer the national elections got, the harder it got.
When the arguments are over, the man is played and Pim has had a hard time. This demonization eventually led to his being killed. A commonly used saying is: “The bullet came from the left.”
The demonization can be compared to the smear campaign that is still going on against Donald Trump, only Pim Fortuyn did not get that much time.
Here's a short compilation of Pim Fortuyn's cringe-inducing demonization.

These disgusting comparisons and statements resulted in more and more intimidation from the left who felt legitimized by the establishment.
The infamous cake incident
Four days before his death, Pim Fortuyn was interviewed by the BBC's most famous reporter at the time, John Simpson.
Pim Fortuyn paid little attention to this and in his coal English he made it clear that this conversation was coming to an end because of comparisons with Jean-Marie LePen while Pim's dogs ran around the two men, wagging their tails.

Pim Fortuyn a few hours before his death
These are the last images of Pim Fortuyn.
After this meeting, Pim went to the media park in Hilversum for a radio interview.

When he left the building, he was shot by Volkert van der Graaf, who has since been released on benefits.
The human Pim Fortuyn
Pim Fortuyn was a regular guest at the anything but politically correct Theo van Gogh.
This is one of the broadcasts in which Pim is a guest. Both were eventually killed because of their ideas
During an extensive report by Ivo Niehe, Pim Fortuyn spoke openly about his political ideas, but also about his personal situation, his homosexuality, loneliness, love, his mother and how his life has changed once he entered politics.
This report was not broadcast until 2007.
For those who can't get enough, here is a special conversation between Muslim Nazmiye Orals and Pim Fortuyn. A day before his death.
Source: History of the Netherlands
Pim Fortuyn. The darling of the people, hated by the elite. It all went so fast but in a short time he managed to turn the whole of the Netherlands upside down.
In the elections for the House of Representatives on May 15, 2002, Fortuyn was still on the voting list. 1.358.942 votes were cast for this. The LPF won 26 seats. Never before had a party won so many seats in the House of Representatives in its first election.
But without Pim Fortuyn it turned out to be a drama. Quarrels and inexperience ensured that the party did not win a single seat in 2006.
Pim Fortuyn was successfully silenced. And they went back to business as usual.
Pim Fortuyn turned 54 years old.
